Niall needed a new helmet for the coming season and we looked no further than Stilo. We chose the ST4F-N as this is the full face option without electronics and then looked at the models i.e. different material options. ST4F-N Composite (Kevlar) finished in metallic silver is the entry level option followed by the ST4F-N Carbon (carbon/Kevlar) but given the dangers of formula racing we chose the ST4F-N 8860 model which is a higher standard than Snell homologation regularly used. The 8860 is 100% carbon moulded in autoclave, it is extremely strong and light at only 1440g. Niall tried on some helmets from our stock and we ordered a custom fit - different sized padding was chosen to give Niall the perfect fit. Murray Motorsport now have a collaboration with PDP Airbrush Artist based in the UK. We got the 8860 carbon helmet shell shipped from Stilo in Italy to Piers at PDP. Professional painters these days will strip a helmet back to a bare shell so for us it was easy to supply it this way to Piers. Piers has painted in excess of 3000 helmets and PDP use a specific spray booth and low bake oven. For a driver it is normally fairly difficult to decide on a helmet design. Niall wanted to include the Irish flag colours as used on his previous helmets but also wanted a different & fresh design. As the ST4F-N 8860 helmet is finished beautifully in carbon fibre Niall decided to keep this original look and incorporate it into his design. Niall worked on some design sketches and forwarded his favourites to Piers. After a discussion with Piers using his knowledge and experience a design was finalised. One month later when complete we shipped the helmet back to Stilo for assembly. Stilo turned the helmet around within a few days and it arrived here this week in one of our regular shipments. In the end the result was a beautiful helmet and a happy driver!
“I'm delighted with the result and I would definitely recommend PDP and of course Stilo for a great combination and I can't wait to start my 2014 season using this helmet”.
