Stilo has recently released the highest specification helmet ever developed; adhering to the very latest “8860-2018” specification from the FIA. What does it do? As a development from the current spec (FIA8860-2010) the FIA has made some alterations:
  • Two different specifications Standard and ABP // Open cockpit car Closed cockpit car
  • Forehead area (open wheel) Zylon Visor Panel replaced by built-in Advanced Ballistic Protection (ABP), resulting in the opening reducing by 10mm
  • Increased energy absorption
  • Low lateral impact
Once again, Stilo are the first (and only at the time of writing) manufacturer to reach this stringent standard. Why is it important? Over time, the FIA8860-2018 standard will replace the FIA8860-2010. For 2019 FIA8860-2018 is mandatory in F1 and some high-level series. As with the FIA8860-2010, over time this will soon be the norm in any international series. How many versions will Stilo offer? Currently we have the ‘VB’ version available. This version has a slightly smaller shell compared to the rest of the Zero Range. However, this model is available in size 57 only and only without side ports. We expect to have the full line of Zero FIA8860-2018 Helmets available Jan 2019.
