No matter whether you're into rallying, drifting, circuit racing or any other form of Motorsport, there's no denying a quality safety harness is an absolute necessity. Here at Murray Motorsport we stock a wide range of harnesses to suit all budgets. From running our professional race team for over 20 years we also have the experience and expertise necessary to provide any advice you might need. Here are some of the tips we've learned over the years. BELT ROUTING (applies to all restraint types) To achieve optimal restraining function belts should be at the correct angles and appropriately tensioned.   RESTRAINT ADJUSTMENT
  • Shoulder belt adjusters must be positioned at a max length of 70mm from the bottom of the HANS collar as shown in the diagram or 250mm below the collarbones when not using an FHR.
  • Lap belt adjusters must not be positioned within the openings of the racing seats. Adjusters must be either outside of the seat opening or close to the rotary buckle inside the seat.
  • Crotch (Anti-sub) strap adjusters are recommended to be positioned either in the opening of the seat pan or right above. This position will allow adjustment without interfering in an uncomfortable manner with your upper thighs.
WRAP SYSTEMS AND INSTALLATIONS Normally the best fitment is to wrap should harnesses around a horizontal roll cage tube. In this case you should remove the snap hook of bolted fixing plate and wrap harness around tube using the slide adjuster (please refer to harness manual for further details). SEAT REQUIREMENTS Motorsport harnesses will only function properly when installed in vehicles equipped with seats that have appropriate openings for shoulder straps. Otherwise the shoulder belts will slide off occupant’s shoulders during an accident. NOTE: All fixing bolts must be of grade 8.8 or greater. Diagrams supplied by Schroth Racing.
